Historical buildings

Assessment of structures and materials

Often documents are not available for the realistic assessment of the remaining load-bearing capacity of historical and old buildings. Based on investigations of the building, we supply the following information for design purposes:

  • Structural design of the building
  • Reinforcement layout
  • Layer thicknesses
  • Determination of strengths of materials
  • State of load-bearing structure and damage.

If the investigated buildings exhibit material or moisture damage, e.g. salinization of masonry or corrosion damage, our team can analyse and assess the damage in more detail. If necessary, we can draw up a restoration concept.

We can also detect non-visible damage due to overload of old structures, e.g. shear cracks in the interior of historical hollow stone ceilings. Non-destructive or minimally invasive testing methods are used.
