Taking core samples

Extraction and assessment of core samples from existing structures

Description

Core samples are needed to determine compressive strength, carbonation depth, assess material microstructure, for tracking cracks and in other laboratory investigations (e.g. thin sections). The core drill can extract cores up to 200 mm using a diamond core bit.

Our office has the equipment and expertise necessary to extract core samples with diameters up to 200 mm from concrete structures (including measuring and locating reinforcement). The resulting drilling water is collected by an automatic suction device so that other structural elements in the vicinity remain clean.

After the extraction we can perform relevant tests in our own laboratory.
